Author Guidelines

  • Submissions must be in English.
  • Headings are encouraged for structure
  • Images with captions e.g Fig 1: Image of...
  • Tables must have captions e.g Table 1: Baseline data
  • Total word length should be between 4000 and 5000 words, excluding references and any appendices.
  • Each submission must have an abstract (max 250 words) before the main article, providing a summary of the article in terms of the research question, a brief explanation of why the question is interesting, and outline of the materials and methods, a summary of the findings and a highlight of the most interesting of the implications. References are not needed in the abstract.
  • Standard body font e.g., Times, Arial, Calibri font size 11 or 12.
  • Harvard referencing, as per university approach.
  • No names of schools, staff, children or any identifying information should be included (as per university ethics).
  • Remove the university title page if you are using an assignment you have submitted.
  • Any tables or images should be located at the right section within the text.
  • Appendices are welcome but should be essential and not exhaustive material only.
  • Please make sure you have proofread your submission carefully. It is not the role of reviewers to correct typographical errors.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a standard 11 or 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Harvard Author (Date) referencing has been used in-text and an am alphabetised list of references has been provided at the end.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
